3rd Party Protection Course – Adelaide 2012
It all kicked off on Saturday the 21st of January, 2012. Jerome and myself stood in one line with another 20 KMG instructors from all over Australia as we bowed with the traditional “Kida” following none other then Master Eyal Yanilovs lead.
The next 10 days proved to be a very steep learning curve, with 8 hour days in mid 30 degree heat. The training environments varied from the gym, a sheep farm, a park and outside in cars and dozens of scenarios and situations were simulated and trained on all revolving around protecting a third party. Some of our favourites included evacuating an unconcious or injured VIP and the numerous fighting drills we did while protecting someone else, not to mention dealing and moving through a crowd, which seemed more like an angry mob by the 3rd and 4th time around.
By day 10 everyone was running through ‘obstacle courses’ with a multitude of problems from knives, drunks, firearms, robbers and many more. Although some body guards were fired, all VIPs made it through safe and sound and all instructors made the grade and were officially certified under Eyal as VIP/3rd Party Protection Instructors.
Third party protection itself is another unique aspect of Krav Maga. It is one of the only systems which not only teaches you to defend yourself and fight but how to defend and protect someone else, that someone else being the VIP in your life, your friends, family, loved ones.
Both Jerome and myself look forward to passing on this knowledge to all of you at KMDI in regular classes and upcoming workshops.
Stay safe, train hard and fight harder!
Jake
