If you are time-poor, it is important to find a nourishing, balanced recipe for a quick fix of nutrients after you train that does not contain MSG-loaded, overly processed, factory-made protein powders, and DOES contains plenty of healthy, natural fats. Here is a recipe that I personally love that contains plentiful protein, fat, vitamins and minerals. The tahini (made from ground sesame seeds) contains an important mix of calcium and magnesium, both of which are essential for proper muscle contraction and relaxation, making this ingredient particularly effective for muscle recovery.

Banana, Sesame and Cacao smoothie:

1/2 a ripe banana
1 x Tbs good quality tahini
1 x Tbs cold-pressed coconut oil (optional)
1 x tsp raw honey
1 x tsp raw cacao
1/2 x tsp cinnamon
1/4 x tsp ground nutmeg
300mL good quality, unhomogenised pasture raised cow, goat or sheep milk (preferably raw)

Blend all ingredients together, and enjoy!
