Ron started learning Krav Maga from a very early age in the city of Netanya, Israel (the birthplace of Krav Maga), where he trained for many years under Israel’s top Krav Maga experts.
When he turned 18, like every Israeli, Ron was drafted into the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) where he passed rigorous selections and was accepted into one of Israel’s renowned counter-terrorist units.
In 2001, under the orders of his commanders, Ron was sent to the Israeli Defence Force Institute of Combat Fitness and Krav Maga. There he underwent some of the IDF’s toughest training in the process of becoming an IDF Military Krav Maga Instructor. Upon returning to his unit, Ron was appointed the chief KM instructor responsible for ensuring that each of the unit’s soldiers were at the top of their game when it came to close-quarters fighting.
When his service with the IDF was up, Ron looked to bring his skills to the civilian world and completed the Civilian Instructors Course with the International Krav Maga Federation. The course was conducted by Eyal Yanilov, Gabi Noah and Ammon Darsa – three of the highest ranking KM instructors in the world.
In 2005, Ron moved to Australia and founded the Krav Maga Defence Institute, which is now one of the largest and most dominant Krav Maga schools in Australia.
Ron has more than a decade of experience teaching Krav Maga and has worked with soldiers, police officers, government agencies, civilians and children in Israel, the US and Australia.
At the age of 18, Jonathan, who was born in Australia, decided to travel to Israel to join the Israeli Defence Force. Before being accepted to the IDF, Jonathan had to undergo time working in a Kibbutz, where he refined his Hebrew skills and spent countless hours doing manual labour. By the time his papers were accepted, Jonathan spoke fluent Hebrew and was physically ready to take on the challenges that face a soldier in one of the world’s most active armies.
During his service in the IDF, Jonathan was a member in one of the most active IDF infantry divisions where he and his unit received numerous commendations for their operational service in active combat.
Upon returning to Australia, Jonathan put his IDF skills to use in various security and counter-surveillance roles.
In 2005 Jonathan began training in KM under Ron where he quickly proved to be one of his leading pupils. From there, Jonathan completed his Krav Maga Instructor’s Course under the tuition of Eyal Yanilov (chief instructor of the IKMF).
Jonathan regularly travels to Israel to ensure he’s up-to date on the latest KM tactics and strategies and often trains with some of the highest-ranking KM instructors in the world. He also holds a Certificate III in Fitness training.
